ADDING SMILES IN CUTENEWS


In this tutorial, I will be teaching you how to add smiles, called "emoticons" in the blogging tool cutenews. Cutenews comes with a default set, but you probably wont like them.


So, first of course, you're gonna need cutenews. Learn how to install it here.

Then, get a set of smileys that you want. This site has great ones.

After you download them, make sure to extract them.

Login to your FTP account, I use SmartFTP. Then click on the folders in this order.
Cutenews>Data>Emoticons


After you do that, over on the side your should see a list of smile names, delete them all. They are the default cutenews smiles that you are not keeping.

Now go back to the extracted smiles that your originally downloaded. Drag and drop them over into your FTP program. It should now look like this after you drag & dropped all of them:


Then go to your cutenews homepage and login. Then go to Options>System Configurations .

There should be a text box labeled 'Smilies'. Erase everything in it, and write the names of the smiles you downloaded. For example, if your smile was called frown.gif write frown in the box. Continue to do this for every smile you downloaded. And make sure to separate them with commas (,).



And thats it! Click save & your smilies should be fully functional and you will be able to add them in news, and when people add a comment they can also add a smilies
